Mung Dal is a split version of a whole mung bean. They are yellow in colour as opposed to the green hue of the whole bean and take a shorter time to cook, making them a quick meal. They are commonly added to Indian dishes, especially vegetarian ones. Mung Dal soup simmers the beans in a vegetable broth with cayenne, turmeric and other such spices to make something hearty, spicy and flavourful.
